Heads Up Mental Health Team Leader

Alan is the Mental Health Team Lead for the Heads UP programme in South County Dublin Partnership (SDCP) since 2020 which primarily covers Tallaght and Clondalkin areas. Alan has worked in various settings in the caring profession and is an Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT)therapist. In addition, he is part of the team of culturally competent psychotherapists working the Traveller Counselling Service. Alan is passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health for all; especially, for people living on the margins of society. He is a constant advocate for human-rights, social justice, gender diversity, redefining masculinity and suicide prevention. He has a grounded understanding of the social issues affecting those struggling with mental health and substance misuse issues, as well as having a solid grasp of community development principles. He believes in the collective work of South Dublin County Partnership does which collectively focuses on the Social Determinants of Health and how working together can improve a person’s overall mental health and well-being.
